Qantas 787’s all have WiFi – Finally – A380’s are next!

While they may be the first choice of many, the lack of WiFi connectivity on Qantas international flights has been a reason I’ve avoided them for a long time, but finally their fleet of 787 Dreamliners has been equipped with WiFi ready for international travellers.

Qantas confirmed to EFTM that they have “completed the rollout of inflight Wi-Fi across its entire Boeing 787 fleet”.”

The best news, the A380 fleet is next, with the first of them going under the knife – you get me – this month, due back in service in October.

Unfortunately, while Qantas does have WiFi on over 130 different planes now, including 36 of it’s widebody fleet (787, A330), the WiFi being installed is almost sub-par in 2026.

Competitors like United and Qatar are already rolling out Starlink low earth orbit internet connectivity which is vastly better for speed and options for what you can do online when in the air – like streaming live sport.

The A380 Fleet is next to get WiFi – long, long overdue.

Also interestingly, the Qantas schedule seems quite slow compared to the Starlink upgrades happening on United and Qatar, that perhaps is related to those being upgrades rather than new systems.

But for now, we’ll have to take what we can get.
