Yahoo! Revamps its iOS weather app – More intuitive and predictive

Yahoo! Remember them? If you are an old bugger like me you probably still have a Yahoo email address. Yes I do and that’s why “The Elder Statesmen” of EFTM gets to report on this new development of the Yahoo! Weather app.

Promising to be smarter and more intuitive, the revamped Yahoo Weather app has introduced “enhanced forecasts, interactive past and future radar, expanded weather insights and customisable alerts”

Smarter forecasts – featuring minute by minute precipitation forecasts with customisable notifications and compatible on iPhones and iPads.

Weather tracking – Future radar, widgets for extreme weather alerts plus the ability to track multiple locations

Insights – Yahoo have expanded air quality, pollen, UV, wind, humidity and moon phase data to allow you to focus on what aspects are important to you

“Weather is a digital experience people return to constantly, often multiple times a day. They’re not just looking for the forecast. They’re looking for context to help them navigate and plan their day,” said Mike Park, Head of Yahoo Weather. “We reimagined Yahoo Weather around that need, combining smarter forecasts, more unique insights and a beautifully designed experience that makes checking the weather more useful and more enjoyable.”

Coming Up – Keeping with the focus on predictive functionality the app introduces “Coming Up” which displays weather moments at a glance, a dashboard approach to give you what you want to know (past or future) in order for you to plan your activities

So why not give it a whirl? The new version is available now and free at the Apple App Store
