As if shopping wasn’t already easy enough these days, Amazon has stepped things up again with faster and tighter delivery windows in Australia’s two largest cities.
It’s now possible to get delivery in as little as five hours at no extra cost for Prime Members on Amazon’s Free Same-Day service with new options for delivery windows available in Sydney and Melbourne.
Arno Lenior, Director of Prime for Amazon Australia, said, “Speed and convenience have always been at the heart of our delivery investment in Australia. We’re seeing more demand from customers for delivery options that fit around their lives, not the other way around. Many Prime members already enjoy Same-Day delivery by 10pm, but today we’re going further by introducing new afternoon, evening, and overnight delivery windows on a huge selection of products. This is a step change in what Australians can expect from online delivery – and it comes at no extra cost for Prime members on eligible orders over $49.”
“We designed these windows around real life — whether it’s ordering a birthday present before bed and finding it at your door by morning, or grabbing a replacement skincare product at lunch and having it by evening. Customers now have the speed, selection, and flexibility to shop on their own terms. We’re continuing to invest heavily in our Australian delivery network, and our ambition is to bring this experience to more Prime members across the country.”
Applicable to eligible orders over $49, the new windows allow you to order by 10pm and get it delivered between 4am and 8am, or order by 8am and get it between 2pm and 6pm.
If you’re doing some morning shopping knock it out before midday and you can choose a delivery window between 5pm and 10pm.
The $49 shop minimum might rule out some of those instant mindless purchases, but for people shopping small appliances, electronics, home and kitchen, beauty, books, toys and more it’s a big win.
In Amazon’s Sydney warehouses there’s around 1 million eligible items while in Melbourne it’s about half a million.
While that instant hit is a win for many, some people are keen to simplify their deliveries with “Amazon Day” which allows you to choose a specific day of the week to receive all your orders in a single delivery.
Sydney and Melbourne might get the fastest deliveries, but across Australia there’s plenty of great shopping options from Amazon, with Perth, Canberra, Geelong, NSW Central Coast, Newcastle and the Hunter regional all able to order as late as 11am for same-day delivery by 10pm and one-day delivery is available in 12 locations nationally.
These things are not easy, Amazon has invested $35 billion across Australia since 2011, with thousands of new jobs across their network.
