LG Expands “Fit & Max” Design Approach Beyond Refrigerators Ahead of IFA 2026

At IFA in Germany next month LG will broaden their Fit & Max design, expanding the design approach beyond refrigerators to also include washing machines, dryers and dishwashers. 

LG’s Fit and Max design philosophy blends ‘Fit Space’, which LG says ‘enables seamless integration into the home’, with ‘Max Life’ which ‘delivers the capacity and performance consumers need’. 

This approach is all about addressing shrinking living space, integrating appliances into the home without compromising on performance. Baek Seung-tae, president of the LG Home Appliance Solution Company said 

“Consumers should not have to choose between an appliance that fits their space and one that delivers the capacity and performance they need Fit & Max brings these priorities together in one solution. By extending this approach across more appliance categories, we aim to make it easier for consumers to choose products that fit naturally into their homes while delivering greater value in everyday life.”

To achieve the balance between the two, LG has taken clever approaches to designing the new appliances in the range. 

As seen on their refrigerators, Fit & Max uses a flat exterior, meaning they  can butt right up against a wall or cabinets reducing its overall footprint. 

Inside the fridge, LG’s ‘Dual FRESHConverter+’ and ‘Full Convert Drawer’ can offer up to three adjustable temperature zones so you can customise your fridge zones to suit the food you have, with LG’s AI Fresh algorithm learning your fridge usage patterns over a three-week period and then optimising the fridge to operate more efficiently. 

For new appliances like their Washing Machines, the Fit & Max design adopts similar strategies, like a flat design you can slide straight in. There’s also larger drum capacity for even greater washing capacity – without increasing the size of the washer. 

To achieve this, LG has incorporated a DD motor-based inverter control system which reduces vibration for larger drums.

The laundry appliances will also include an AI-powered automated cycle adjustment with AI Wash and AI Dry able to detect the load and adjust settings as required to reduce the time, energy and attention needed to wash your clothes. 

Back in the kitchen, the new LG Fit & Max dishwashers also carry the flush-fit design letting them slide in right up against existing cabinets for easy installation. 

The LG Fit and Max dishwashers will use ‘AI SenseClean’ to automatically sense how dirty your dishes are, and adjusting settings to improve cleaning, while a 1-hour Wash and Dry cycle will have your dishes done in a convenient time-frame. 

LG hasn’t announced local availability, pricing or specs for the new Fit & Max range, but we expect more information closer to launch.
