REVIEW: The Tineco PURE ONE Station A70S Pet – This thing is a beast

Anybody that has a pet, especially one that sheds has learnt to be disappointed when a vacuum claims to be designed for pet owners. So when I was offered the opportunity to test out the Tineco PURE ONE Station A70S Pet cordless cleaner I had reservations.

Lets get this out of the way quickly. If you own a pet and have struggled with clogged appliances and “tangle-free” rollers that aren’t tangle free, then this just may be the cleaner for you

Lets start with the specs so you can understand what this vacuum is designed to do

Big claims. Self-cleaning, tangle-free & 100 minute run time? They are some big calls. Alongside the claims of being suitable for pet owners (It’s in the name) then I needed to see if this stacks up

What’s in the box?

I must admit that upon seeing the box and the components inside I was more daunted than when you first open an IKEA flatpack or a LEGO project. There’s a lot of pieces, pieces that I eventually have to get back in the box. Not only are there a few parts, this unit is big. Very big.

Upon construction you do really see how substantial this appliance is. This thing is humongous standing at almost 1.2m.

The instructions say charging takes around 4-5 hours. The vacuum came well over half charged so within 90 minutes it was ready to go 

Preparation

No app required, no account setup. This thing is a vacuum that vacuums. How well?

In my house the ultimate test is my 9 year old Border Collie, Billie. Anyone who has read any of my previous reviews knows that it’s lucky she’s cute as dog hair in my house is a constant annoyance.

Now I have a quite sophisticated robot vacuum which I think does a pretty good job on carpets, the best I’ve owned. It has the suction strength of 22,000 Pa so it’s no slouch when it comes to extracting hair from carpet but what sort of job would the Tineco do? How much more of Bilie’s hair the Tineco can get out of my carpet?

I decided the best way to test is to run my existing vacuum over my carpeted areas at full suction power and then see if this cleaner could get any more. As usual after the robot vac they looked fantastic

Test one: Already “clean” carpets

After firing up the A70S Pet and running it over the carpet it was evident that it was collecting far more extra hair than I expected. Upon finishing the initial dustbin located in the upright vacuum contained more hair than I would like to admit.

And what about that brush head? No tangles. Remarkable

Docking

Remember this vacuum promises to self-clean. That is where the second major component of the system kicks in. When you put it back in the dock, the base unit fires up and transfers all the debris into the base dustbin, leaving the hand unit spotless.

And again it was incredible and somewhat embarrassing to see how much it extracted from my already “clean” carpet

Test Two: Tiles

The A70S Pet was equally impressive on tiles. Again the vacuum showed up what I thought was a clean floor to be anything but. This time it was another feature that impressed. The LED light at the base of the brush head. The green light shows up every piece of debris. It is eye-opening

Test Three: The flour test

What review would be complete without the old flour on the floor test? Waiting til the better half was out I took the opportunity to waste quite a bit of flour on the tiled floor. The A70S Pet made short work of it and within a minute it was completely gone. The only parts that needed a second pass was the tracks left by the wheels

Now as mentioned before this is a beast of a machine and one of the potential drawbacks may actually be the size. If you intend to use this as a portable vacuum for your car, upholstery or curtains then you better have those 7 weet bix as your arm will get tired

It does have great reach and comes with a versatile set of attachments (brush, mini-roller and crevice nozzle)

Battery life

I couldn’t flatten it. Simple as that. I could have just let it run til the stated 100 minutes expired but in reality it did everything asked of it and if you have a normal sized home, 100 minutes should be plenty. Storing the vacuum is also charging it so you are unlikely to run it down flat.

 The good

• Great suction power
• The bright LED illuminates the debris making it easier to collect
• Self-cleaning
• True tangle-free roller

The not so good

• If space is at a premium maybe this is not for you
• The handheld unit is big, and heavy
• At RRP of $1,299 it does come at a premium

The verdict

With great power comes great responsibility so you will need to have a suitable place to store this appliance. There is no doubt however it is up for the job. It extracted much more of the dirt and hair than my conventional robot vac and it illuminated what I couldn’t see with the naked eye on hard surfaces
