Sennheiser introduces the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5, its more advanced earbuds yet

Just a month ago, Sennheiser updated its MOMENTUM headphones, and today it announced the next version of its MOMENTUM True Wireless earbuds, the fifth generation and Sennheiser’s most advanced earbuds yet.

According to Sennheiser, the key features of the new MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 are:

  • Audiophile-grade high fidelity TrueResponse transducers – Delivering breathtaking high-resolution true sound
  • Optimised for Dolby Atmos – Head-tracking unlocks immersive entertainment
  • All-new design – Improved comfort, stability, and portability
  • Improved voice calls & ANC – Voice accelerometer, expanded mic array and AI speech enhancement
  • 40 hours playtime and user-replaceable batteries – Easily refresh your run-time even years from now
  • Bluetooth 6.0 – Prioritises fast and stable connections
  • Smart Control Plus – a new 8-band EQ highlights an assortment of customisable features in the free app

The sound from the MOMENTUM TW 5 is driven by Sennheiser’s signature 7mm TrueResponse dynamic transducer to deliver full-bodied music across the entire sound stage.  With Bluetooth 6.0 and aptX Adaptive codec support, you can be sure you will hear precise reproduction of hi-res audio up to 24-bit/96kHz.

The MOMENTUM TW earbuds once again feature adaptive hybrid active noise cancellation with an automatic anti-wind mode, with this year’s version revised to be even better than before.  There’s also a transparency mode for those who want or need to stay aware of their surroundings.

They’re also ideal for calls thanks to the “six microphones and two bone-conduction voice accelerometers with an AI speech-extraction algorithm to isolate the voice,” whatever the environment you find yourself in.

Like the MOMENTUM 5, the MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 features a user-replaceable battery in the earbuds and the charging case, making them ideal for a long-term audio solution.  Replace the batteries in minutes with a simple screwdriver!

The earbuds deliver 12 hours of playback on a single charge, and the Qi-enabled wireless charging case provides more than two full charges with up to 40 hours of total playback combined.  If you do run out of power, a quick eight-minute recharge will provide you with another hour of playback.  The charging case is also narrower and more pocket-friendly than the previous generation.

The only downside of their predecessors was the slightly uncomfortable fit.  The MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 solve this with a new fin-less shape that was “rated more comfortable than the prior generation by 73% of testers.”

With support not just for Bluetooth 6.0 and aptX Adaptive codec but also for Snapdragon Sound and aptX Lossless, you can count on accurate sounds and low-latency gaming.  There is also the ability to adjust the sound to your own preferences within the Sennheiser Smart Control Plus app using the 8-band EQ, prompt-guided interactive Sound Personalisation and granular setting customisation

MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 will be available in five metallic colourways: Graphite, Cream, Copper, Denim and Lavender, with an RRP of AU9. The earbuds will be available to purchase from 3 September at au.sennheiser-hearing.com and JB Hi-Fi stores nationwide and online. From 1 October, MOMENTUM True Wireless 5 will be available across selected authorised retailers nationwide.
