MOVA Unveils Tactile Skin, Robotic Arms, and Next-Gen Mowers at IFA 2026

At IFA, MOVA have taken to the stage in Berlin to unveil their latest innovations including a new tactile skin for their robot vacuums, advances in mowers, robot arms and more.

The announcement covers a slew of devices for the global market, with 22 new products and 15 technologies announced across MOVA’s ‘smart living’ portfolio.

MOVA is showing off a few new concepts across mowing, including new zero-edge Ultra-Trim edge-trimming and their first robot mower with a robot arm. 

The Ultra-Trim 3.0 and 4.0 systems are designed to tackle the last centimetre, offering 0cm edge-trimming along walls, fences, and hedges where the main cutting blade can’t reach.

The Ultra-Trim 3.0 adds a dedicated edge-cutting disc on the right side, while the Ultra-Trim 4.0 system adds an adjustable cutting disc on an adaptive robotic edging arm with adjustable cutting heights ranging from 4 – 6cm, giving you greater flexibility in managing cutting height across boundaries and terrain. 

Also announced is the new AstraX robot lawn mower, which comes with a multi-functional arm with interchangeable tool heads including a watering nozzle and two-finger gripper which can remove obstacles from its path and even pick fruit from low positions. 

As well as showing off the robotic arm, MOVA is also showing off a more conventional robot arm concept. 

Called Knot 80, it’s a show of what’s to come, with the ‘humanoid-inspired robotic arm’ able to move in 11 degrees of freedom using 15 articulated joints. MOVA says they see the Knot 80 ‘bringing this capability to a wider range of products and scenarios, enabling robots to grasp, move, and organize objects as they take on more complex tasks’. The hand can be quite strong, or soft-handed with a gripping force between 25–50 Newtons, with dynamic adjustments able to be made in real-time to maintain grip.

With the possibility of more dextrous, human-like arms for robots in the future, MOVA are also moving beyond the cameras and LiDAR traditionally used for navigation and obstacle avoidance on robot vacuums, unveiling a tactile skin concept at IFA 2026. 

The TactiPercept System uses a combination of 128 pressure sensors and a flexible cushioning structure to give real-time pressure feedback if the robot encounters an obstacle. If it finds something out of the ordinary, it can adjust its map and keep cleaning.

Australians with pools will also be seeing innovations on their autonomous pool cleaners, with an upgraded AquaSonar Underwater Communication System announced. 

The system uses ultrasonic communication built-in to the robot’s docking station to maintain connectivity underwater, so users can check the status of the cleaner and access relevant controls. The ultrasonic system also bypasses the need for a floating buoy to relay an often spotty Wi-Fi signal. 

The range of devices shown off at their AI MOVAment event will be on display at their booth over at IFA in Berlin. We’ll be seeing more on devices launching with these new technologies in the coming year.
