After their Australian launch mid-2025, MOVA have been building their brand and fleshing out their line-up with a vast array of new devices ranging from pool cleaners, window washers, lawn mowers, toothbrushes and of course robot vacuums, with their latest, the Z70 Ultra Roller announced last month.
Priced at $2,999, the MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller prioritises mopping, including their MaxiReach system that can extend the mop roller and side brush outward to clean edges, baseboards, and tight corners.
The robot cleaner uses MOVA’s ‘Hurricane Suction with HydroForce 2.0 Mopping’ tech capable of up to 36,000Pa suction power, as well as cleaning and fluffing the roller with fresh water and using real-time monitoring of the roller to prevent spreading mess.
The vacuum also comes with an improved ability to navigate around your home, including their AutoShield Technology that can protect carpets from moisture, lifting the roller in the presence of carpets, and adding the ability to cross thresholds up to 9cm.
The unit includes the base station which automatically cleans the roller mop, using a 100°C washing cycle, and 70°C drying cycle to ensure it’s clean and dry ready to use next time, while emptying dust and debris.
I’ve been using the MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller for a few weeks and here’s how it went.
You get everything you need to get underway in the box.
The robot vacuum already has the main brushes, roller and side brush pre-installed, and all the filters, dust collection bag, de-scalers and more installed in the base station.
All you really need to do for setup is attach the Base Station Ramp Extension Plate to the base station, add clean water to the 5.5L tank, including some of the Floor Cleaner and Pet Odor Solution in the auto-dispenser and plug it into the wall.
When you’re ready to get underway, you’ll need the MOVAHome app. It’s available for Android and iOS and from there it’s a matter of following the bouncing ball to connect it to your network and start mapping.
Initial mapping has some hints to get the best result on the first pass.
The mapping is quite accurate, though it does seem to want to insist I have a balcony attached to my living room, as I left the curtains and blinds open and it got excited.
You can edit the maps, merging and dividing rooms and hiding them if necessary – as well as renaming them for an easier time when targeting rooms.
You can also note where thresholds are in the home and if necessary prepare with a ramp.
The vacuum can handle two step thresholds up to 9cm (4.8cm + 4.2cm). I have decent thresholds on the wet areas in the home, bathrooms, ensuite, laundry – just over an inch high, and the MOVA Z70 takes them on easily.
Brushes, rollers and of course cleaning fluids need replacing, so it’s good
You can purchase a ‘MOVA Auxiliary Cleaning Kit for Z70 Ultra Complete’ kit. While it says ‘V70’ the parts appear to be interchangeable with the MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller (and the URL for the kit includes Z70).
The kit includes almost everything you need – Spare main brush, spare side brushes, dust box filter, spare mop pads and even a 1L cleaning solution.
The kit currently costs – but that’s 50% off the 8 RRP so take that into account.
There’s also no Pet Odor solution included in the bundle. It’s an optional extra, so you don’t need it per se, but if you have pets it elevates the cleaning experience. You can buy it separately for which gets you a 1L bottle – enough for quite a few cleans.
The last thing you want to do before setting your vacuum off is make sure it’s completely charged. The 6,400 mAh battery in the robot comes partially charged, but ensuring it’s fully topped off before you start is best practice.
From flat to full, the MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller can charge in four and a half hours. Each full charge can get you up to 250m² of coverage – usually enough to do most homes.
We have a decently sized home, and as a standalone vacuum it almost got through the whole house in one go, but add in mopping and the vacuum took a couple of cycles to clean the whole house.
The Robot, as well as the included base station is available in two colourways: Natural Stone Black or Brushed Metallic.
The base station aesthetically looks quite clean, the low-profile design holding a 5.5L clean water tank, and 5L dirty water tank and 4L Dust Bag.
The capacity of dirty and clean water tanks and the dust bag means you generally have a fairly long time between maintenance, so you can just set the robot off and let it go without having to think about it.
MOVA says up to 125 days, however I found I had to top up the clean water every 2nd clean and empty the dirty tank every third clean. I am a fair way from emptying the dust bag, so that’s a bonus.
As well as a place to charge, empty dirty water and dust, the base station will also clean your vacuum. The Base includes 100°C Hot-Water Mop Washing and 70°C Hot-Air Mop Drying so you never get that damp, musty smell.
For the most part you can choose to either set the vacuum off manually, or set a schedule for your vacuum to complete either daily, on weekends just Monday to Friday, or some combination in between.
We have a clean set for 9am Monday – Friday, which gives me a chance to put all the chairs up and clean up any couch covers, clothes, cables and general detritus off the floor before it kicks off.
It’s no big deal If I forget, the robot still sets off, and the obstacle avoidance simply works its way around everything – and still cleans really well.
During these cleans, I leave ‘Clean Genius’ MOVA’s AI-powered cleaning mode in control. Clean Genius can automatically adjust suction power, water flow, and cleaning paths when it detects dirt and debris, adjusting the robot in real time.
If however you just want a quick clean, or a REAL Spring clean at maximum power, you can set the vacuum off manually, setting the strength of mopping and more – and you can also tell it to go target a single room.
The MOVA Z70 Ultra Roller is a beast when it comes to cleaning. It has a low-profile design just 96mm tall when the retractable dToF sensor (Direct Time-of-Flight) is down, letting it get in under low-profile furniture.
It includes object recognition for over 300 household objects. The vacuum can then avoid these obstacles – even in low-light, with a built-in LED light on-board to illuminate dust at floor level so it can clean even in dark rooms.
In terms of cleaning, my previous vacuum topped out at 28,000Pa of suction, the Z70 gets to 36,000 and my deep pile carpets have never felt cleaner or more luxurious.
During cleaning, the robot uses the extendable side brush and roller to get right into the edges. I had doubts the robot could angle that roller into a corner, but I was proven wrong and it gets almost all the way in.
The extendable brush and roller popping out is a sight that’s a little disconcerting, but it really works well.
The roller mop specifically is truly impressive. MOVA’s HydroForce 2.0 Mopping tech is pretty neat.
I’ve seen roller vacuums leave streaks previously, however theHydroForce 2.0 tech continuously sprays clean water, scrubs and scrapes the roller in real-time, removing dirty water as you go and keeping the roller clean with every pass.
MOVA says the roller can exert 5,000pa (18 Newtons) of downward force, that’s a decent amount of scrubbing power and it works quite well on dried or caked on stains.
It’s equally impressive that it tucks that roller up when it hits the carpet so it won’t drag its metaphorical butt on your clean carpet.
