OPPO is unveiling the Find X10 flagship series in a couple of days, here’s what we expect to see

Few brands are releasing true flagship smartphones in Australia these days — Apple, Samsung, Google, Xiaomi (tentatively) and OPPO. We have seen the first four with their offerings, with the latest iPhone launched just a couple of weeks ago, but OPPO has always released its flagships at the end of the year, unswayed by other manufacturers’ timings.

This year, OPPO will be launching the Find X10 flagship smartphone series, the successor to last year’s extremely popular Find X9 series. While the Australian launch is still likely to be a month or two away, we will see the Chinese launch on the 22nd of September, in two days’ time, and while we don’t always get all the varieties launched in China, what we do get is the same phone as is launched there. Thus, it’s a good indicator for what will land DownUnder.

Rumours a plenty

Of course, at this stage it is only rumours that are suggesting what is coming, but these rumours are usually spot on. So let’s dive into them.

First, OPPO is apparently changing the phone naming scheme, and while we are not sure if the names will stick for the Australian launch, the Find X10 series will comprise the Find X10, the Find X10 Pro Max and the Find X10 E.

The Find X10E will be the more affordable version of the series, with the Find X10 Pro Max taking the ultra-premium slot.

The Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max will sport a new camera module with the Pro Max module larger, filling more of the top of the rear of the phone. The Find X10 E sports a similar module to last year’s Find X9.

The cameras are also bumped up with the Find X10 sporting two Hasselblad-branded 200MP cameras and the Find X10 Pro Max three of them! This triple 200MP camera setup gives the camera greater flexibility across a larger variety of environments. The main camera will be a Samsung HPM camera and the ultra-wide and periscope cameras will use Samsung HP5 sensors.

The Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max will also apparently house an 8,000mAh battery and a new OLED panel called Tiangong Screen 2.0 that cuts blue light exposure while improving low-brightness performance for improved eye-care.  Early rumours pegged the devices to also finally fully support Qi2.2 charging, including built-in magnets for MagSafe-like and PixelSnap-like charging. It would be surprising if they did not include this this year, given that they had official accessories last year that supported Qi2.2 with magnets built into them. Or it could just be my wishful thinking.

• Find X10: Moon White, Warm Orange, Ice Blue, Light Titanium
• Find X10 Pro Max: Warm Orange, Moon White, Light Titanium
• Find X10 E: Ice Blue and Light Titanium

I sense that we will see all three Find X10 variants arrive in Australia in the coming months, and we, of course, hope that they are fully specced. OPPO has established a large presence here in Australia in recent years, so let’s hope they continue that this year with its new full flagship line.
