Belkin ScreenCast AV 4 helps you build the ultimate man cave

Want the cleanest, most stylish man cave possible? Hide all your AV equipment wherever you want but maintain the connection to your TV with the Belkin ScreenCast AV 4.

Those working on man caves, lounge rooms, media rooms or anywhere that a flat panel TV belongs – rejoice. Belkin has just made creating the ideal room set up a hell of a lot easier thanks to the ScreenCast 4. To explain it simply, the ScreenCast 4 connects to your AV equipment and allows you to hide those boxes anywhere up to 30 metres away, yet still maintain a perfect connection to your TV without wires.

Similar to that of a home network, the ScreenCast AV 4 is two small boxes. One connects to all your AV equipment bar your TV. It has four HDMI ports which you use to hook up items such as your DVD player, Blu-ray player, Foxtel IQ, game console or anything else with HDMI. Place your AV items connected to the ScreenCast AV 4 anywhere you want within 30 metres of your TV. That means you can hide them behind the couch, in a shelf, on another storey or next to the sofa for easy access. Now connect the other box to your TV and you’re done.

The two boxes (transmitter and reciever) will automatically pair. You will be able to use all your remote controls as usual thanks to the IR transmitter. Just point them at the box connected to your TV and you’re golden. Sound and image quality is just as good as if you were connected physically thanks to the uncompressed audio and video that is being beamed to your TV by the ScreenCast AV 4. Yep, that means 1080p if the source is Full-HD.

Now you can mount that TV to the wall and have nothing else around it except for the power cable and the ScreenCast AV 4 box, which is tiny and can be wall mounted as well simply by using some 3M sticky wall tape.

For those who have surround sound, you will still have to have the speakers positioned correctly, and if you have wired surround sound the ScreenCast AV 4 won’t help your cause much as the speakers will still have to be connected to your receiver even if it is hooked up to the ScreenCast Av 4. But if you have a wireless surround sound set up then you really could have the ultimate wireless entertainment system.

Gamers will be happy that Belkin has assured us that all games, even on next-gen consoles such as the PS3 and Xbox 360, have played faultlessly in testing. The ScreenCast AV 4 works autonomously, so there is no confusing set up and it doesn’t have to be connected to your home network.
