Porsche Panamera, Maserati Quattroporte, Mercedes-Benz CLS63… take a good hard look over your shoulder because the BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe M Sport is coming to get you.
Drive in the SMH has revealed details about the supercar that every cashed-up father will want to own. The 6-Series Gran Coupe will be powered by a twin-turbo charged 4.4 litre V8 that’s matched with a sweet seven-speed double clutch gear box – that’s 412kW of power thank you. But best of all, it adds an additional two doors that actually turn the odd looking 6-Series into something of a masterpiece of elegance. Who would have thought that all it would take to sort out the ugly 6-Series is a couple of extra doors for the family-man CEO.
According to Drive, the new car will feature a longer wheelbase, shorter front doors and more substantial B-pillars to make the four door idea work. It will actually have the underpinnings of the 5-Series which uses a the more conventional four door sedan approach.
Don’t think about getting your hands on one anytime soon though. You’ll first get to see it at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show and not in Australia until the end of next year. However, that will give you plenty of time to decide on which model you want. Aside from the M Sport version mentioned above, there is also the 640i (six-cylinder, 3-litre, 224kW) and 650i (V8, 4.4-litre, 330kW).
