Nathan Sawaya: Art of the Brick – Lego for adults

Whoever said Lego was childs play clearly has no idea what they are talking about. New York lawyer Nathan Sawaya has created an art exhibition full of blocky goodness – and it’s in Sydney now.

The exhibition, called Art of the Brick, shows off Sawaya’s intense fascination with Lego as an artistic medium. Rather than being a whole heap of kits he’s randomly built, it shows off original works constructed from his personal collection of more than 1.5 million bricks. From sculptures of people to dinosaur skeletons, Sawaya has created a range of Lego models to challenge our perceptions of the medium. His largest work is 16 metres by 4.5 metres and took more than 500,000 blocks to create.

Art of the Brick will be showing at the Sydney Town Hall until February 3rd, 2012 and will set adults back $17.50 for admission.
