Lonely Planet and Scoot Airlines provides tight men with cheap travel plans

Are you a cheapskate? Do you enjoy travelling? Usually the two don’t mix. But in travel news this week two companies have come to the rescue of tight men. Travel guide gods Lonely Planet and Singapore Airlines’ new budget carrier, Scoot.

Lonely Planet has recently released a list of what it calls the world’s finest freebies. Places you need to go and things you need to do that won’t cost you a cent. OK, getting there to do them will set you back a bit, but once you’re there you’re set. The list includes awesome attractions such as the Staten Island Ferry in New York City, Tsim Sha Tsui waterfront in Hong Kong and Reichstag in Berlin. There are activities as well, such as the free city bikes in Denmark. The list is gold for traveller on a budget and certainly worth checking out.

The other good news for Aussie travellers is the emergence of Scoot Airlines, a low cost offshoot of the famous Singapore Airlines. Singapore Airlines has always treated Australia well, debuting its first A380 superjumbo on the Singapore-Sydney route. Sydney will play host to the first Scoot Airlines flight as well, but it also announced that the Gold Coast will get five flights a week directly to Singapore too. Expect to see really cheap fares upon launch from both destinations.

Singapore Airlines will use Boeing 777 aircraft for the Scoot services.
