Prevent exercise injuries in six easy steps

American bible to being a man, Men’s Journal, has released its six simple steps to making sure you don’t do serious damage when you exercise. So before you go for your next jog with weights, perhaps give this a quick squizz.

Most of the advice is fairly obvious when you think about it, but that’s just it. You have to think about it. Between work, family life and exercise, how much time to you actually have to sit down and think about what you are doing when you hit the gym or start pounding the pavement? In its most basic form, Men’s Journal recommends you:

  1. Be balanced
  2. Take time to recover
  3. Practice before you play
  4. Know when to call it quits
  5. Invest in equipment that fits
  6. Warm up with dynamic moves

We’re not going to steal Men’s Journal‘s thunder and go into detail on any of those. Needless to say they are a bit more complex than their titles so do yourself a favour and find five minutes to read through the story and the tips for each injury prevention method.
