The Sony 3D Library is a new attempt by the Japanese electronics company to try and get people excited by the concept of 3D entertainment. Products are available to loan for three days from any of the 12 Sony Centre stores around the country. The only catch is that you need to own a 3D TV at home to enjoy the benefits – although that TV can be from any brand.
At the moment, the number of different products on offer is quite small, but as the program grows, it’s expected that Sony will offer even more products to trial. To start with Sony is offering the following products for loan:
• 3D Handycam HDR-TD10 camcorder
• Alpha NEX C3 camera, with 3D Sweep Panorama function
• Cyber-shot WX7S still camera, with 3D Sweep Panorama function
• 3D Bloggie camera
• 3D Sony Pictures films
• 3D PlayStation games
Being able to rent a DSLR for free is a pretty amazing opportunity, so hopefully this little endeavour will not only be successful for Sony, but also inspire other manufacturers to offer similar services.
