Mates Rates: 50-inch Panasonic plasma from JB Hi-Fi for $698

Four years ago, I bought my 50-inch Panasonic plasma for almost $3,500 (and it was a good deal). Today, JB HiFi is selling the 50-inch TH-P50U30A for under $700. I feel ripped off.

The U30A not only has a 1080p 50-inch plasma screen, it also boasts on board internet connectivity for connecting to services like YouTube and Facebook, as well as accessing files on your home network using DLNA. If you’re not the networking type, the TV will let you play back video from a USB key as well.

Under $700 is a bargain price for a 50-inch television. Well worth the investment if you need a new TV.

Price: $698
