There were 97,616 cars, SUVs and commercial vehicles sold in Australis last month, a 3.9 per cent increase over March 2011. But the big news is that so far this year, SUVs make up a whopping 28 per cent of all vehicles sold.
Toyota was the most successful manufacturer in March, with 18,461 cars sold, compared to 10,196 Holdens and 9,345 Mazdas.
It’s not just SUVs that are growing though – medium passenger cars experienced a 17.7 per cent growth (3,139 sold) on the same month last year, while sports cars have also jumped 31.2 per cent (1,142 sold) compared to the same period.
In other words, things are looking pretty good for the auto industry in Australia at the moment…
