While the movie selection on the service is continually growing, it’s still a long way off being a complete, must-use service like Netflix in the US. But the thing that made Netflix such a huge success is its ability to be accessed through a huge variety of devices, which is something that Quickflix is imitating with this announcement.
Since its launch last year, Quickflix WatchNow has expanded from PC only to Playstation 3 consoles, Bravia televisions, Samsung televisions and tablets, Panasonic televisions, and likely a whole bunch more by the end of the year.
The addition of HBO programming is also a welcome addition, with shows like The Sopranos, True Blood and Flight of the Conchords all appearing on the service recently.
The best thing about the app launching on Xbox is that, according to Quickflix: “it will be a showcase app which case serve HD quality and the application will make full use of Kinect and Voice prompts of the Xbox.” In other words, you’ll be able to watch and control unlimited movies without needing a remote control. Awesome.
