Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad – biggest knob in the world, ever?

We’ll let you be the judge. But here’s a bit of a scene setter for you. French Olympian wins European championship 3,000 metre steeplechase and to celebrate, he pushes over a 14-year-old girl. Yep, that happened.

Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad had just come off winning the event when he approached the event’s mascot which happened to be a 14-year-old girl in costume. After slapping a bag she was holding out of her hand, he then pushed her enough to apparently wind the girl. Cameras caught the entire event.

It’s not the first time Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad has caused a stir after winning an event. In 2010 he won the same event, this time held in Barcelona. The post race celebration was more than a bit odd after he went up to the mascot and hugged it in jubilation before making it kneel down and then pushing it over.

Mahiedine Mekhissi-Benabbad has won Olympic silver before. A possible warning to London Olympic mascots who may be on track if he does well…
