The EFTM Review: Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover for iPad

When the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard cover for iPad was announced it did seem a bit too good to be true. So, after a few months of constant use, how does it stack up?

I’ve been using this new cover and keyboard combo for my iPad daily for almost three months, in real life situations.

The first thing you will notice about this is that it truly is a smart cover for your iPad. Your iPad snaps magnetically to the cover and shuts off and on when you close and open. But unlike most other covers, this one serves a purpose after it’s open too. It’s a keyboard!

And that is the killer app for this $79 purchase. Once opened, you snap the cover off, place the keyboard down and simply dock your iPad into a small angled slot above the keyboard and you’ve just created something better than any netbook could ever have offered.

About a month ago I was in a meeting. A chap pulled out his bag which looked similar to a laptop bag. From it he took his iPad, a Keyboard, and a stand.

A minute later he was setup, and taking up as much space as a laptop and a bulky but small screen.

Opposite him, I snapped off my cover, flipped it over and had myself running right away.

Typing on the iPad is always an issue. Sure for a quick tweet or reply it’s okay. But if you want to take notes in meetings, or edit documents on the go, the screen keyboard is never going to do it for you.

I can honestly say I’ve never used my iPad so much. It is no longer a showy device I carry around, It’s a functional task manager, note taker and email machine I can use in all my meetings and in any location without any hassle.

It’s strange to think, but before getting the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Cover, I wasn’t getting the most from my iPad.

Announced at $129 RRP, it’s available now at the Logitech Online shop for just $79!
