Check your pulse and blood oxygen levels on your iPhone with the iSpO2

iSpO2 Pulse and Oxygenation check for your iPhone

CES in Las Vegas is full of a wide range of products and health and fitness features heavily across the show floor. One product in the health category, the iSpO2, turns your iPhone into a portable health check – taking your pulse and checking your blood oxygenation levels.

At $US249 on Amazon it’s not cheap, however the functionality is excellent and it works with great ease. Connected directly to an older iPhone’s (or iPod Touch’s) 30-pin connector, at the end of the cable is a simple finger clip, similar to one your doctor might use to check your pulse.

Clip the iSpO2 onto your finger and open the app to get a measurement of your pulse and oxygenation levels. It works by sending a beam of light through your finger and taking its measurements from there. Importantly, the device still works even when you are moving around or you have low blood flow to the finger.

I tried the device today at CES and was impressed with how quickly a reading was obtained and how clearly it is displayed on screen.

There is also a history function on your device so you can track the history of your pulse and oxygenation levels.

If checking your pulse or blood oxygenation levels is important to you then it’s a good investment, even at $US249.
