Logitech hits another home run with new iPad keyboard cases

I don’t think there is much doubt that when it comes to adding a keyboard to your iPad the best in class leader in that space is Logitech.  It’s “Ultra Thin” keyboard case combined the feel of a real keyboard with the protection of a hard case for the iPad screen.  Hot on the heels of Apple’s iPad Air announcement, Logitech have taken it one step further with new cases to suit.

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio

If there was one complaint about the Ultra Thin keyboard accessory it might be that as a protector of your valuable iPad investment it did a good job at covering the screen, but not much else, and when dropped, you could easily break more than you would hope.

However the feel of the keys and the size the Ultra Thin came in made it almost perfect, snap it off, slide in the iPad and you’re running.

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio

To meet the needs of even more customers, Logitech have added a new string to their bow – the Ultra Thin Keyboard Folio. While it has a solid Ultra-Thin like keyboard, it also has a full wrap around cover, meaning the iPad is more protected than before, and the keyboard isn’t going anywhere. Like many covers and cases, it uses a series of bends to prop itself up – but the kicker here is the magnetic strip along the top edge of the keyboard.  Rather than sliding the iPad into a slot, the iPad magnetically fixes to the top edge of the keyboard and you are basically good to go.

It’s such a simple thing – and I think any other accessory maker would look at this and pinch themselves.

Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio – Magnets hold it all in place

To make it truly “smart” as Apple would want for, the corners of the folio case are magnetised also so the cover snaps together, shutting off your iPad and the keyboard.  You should get three months life out of this one.

Available for iPad Air and iPad mini, this may well top its big brother the Ultra Thin as the must have iPad accessory.
