More Bluetooth smart watches to come from Casio

We’ve already seen the first and now second generation of the G-Shock smart watch from Casio, and with that technology now set in stone and running well for the company it’s clear here at CES they have plans to do a whole lot more.

Casio G-Shock Bluetooth smart watches

Walking through the Casio stand at CES there is a huge section dedicated to their range of Bluetooth smart watches, from the G-Shock which just recently launched in Australia to a slimmer version and also a more feature rich sports version.

The slim 5600 series G-Shock range with Bluetooth was well stocked at the booth and we’re not sure that has yet to hit Australia.  In a range of colours it suits those who don’t want the full bulk of the traditional G-Shock watch.

Meanwhile the big push is into sports tracking with the STB-1000 with Bluetooth “Sports Gear” doing even more than the notifications, music control and phone location in the existing Bluetooth range.

The Sports Gear links with the Wahoo fitness application to display measurement data on the watch including things like elapsed time, travel distance, heart rate, lap time and cadence.

All that data is actually being gathered by the smartphone, the watch is simply acting as a display for the information although the display is fully customisable.

While there are a huge range of full fitness tracking watches on the market this is a step in between nothing and the fully enclosed GPS watch.

No word yet on Australian availability but as always you’ll find out first here at EFTM.
