Apple lets you trade-in your old iPhone or iPad

Being green is something Apple is extremely proud of, from the components used to make devices to the recyclable nature of the components it’s something we’ve heard CEO Tim Cook talk about at several Keynotes.  Today, Apple takes that one step further with a re-use and recycle program at Apple Stores

The concept is simple – in all 21 Aussie Apple Stores, you can receive a credit to upgrade to a new device by bringing in your old one.

You can get up to $250 for an old iPhone and up to $215 for an old iPad.

Apple say “iPhones & iPads hold great value. So, Apple Retail Stores in Australia are launching a new program to assist customers who wish to bring in their previous-generation iPhone or iPad for recycling. In addition to helping support the environment, customers will be able to receive a credit for their returned iPhone or iPad that they can use toward the purchase of a new iPhone or iPad.”

This program follows the confirmation that all 21 Apple Stores in Australia are being powered by renewable energy.  It’s not easy being green you know!

We’ll have to wait and see what people actually get for their devices, I’m tipping an iPhone 4 won’t bring in too much, and the condition will be key – maybe I’ll take my cracked iPad 2 in and see what they offer me.
