A new style of Powerboard – the PowerCube : Great for large plugs and powerpacks

There’s something awesome about a product that takes a fresh look at something that’s been around for a very long time.  Almost re-inventing a product from scratch.  That’s exactly what the PowerCube does, a fresh look at powerboards.

You know you’ve got more than one or two around the home.  A strip of 4 or more power points plugged into a single wall socket.  They work a treat when you’ve got a desk in one spot with things like a Computer, Monitor, Printer, Charger and other things around and only one or possibly two wall-sockets.

But they have one drawback: space.

There are some around that are longer than normal and use that extra length to space out the power points so you can fit more of those huge power packs that come with some products today.  Without that space a four point powerboard is really just a double adaptor.

Enter the PowerCube – this is just what it says on the box, a Cube with multiple power outlets on it.

Standard with a 1.5m Power cord, you can fit five plugs of any size into this because they are 90 or 180 degrees away from any other plug.

And to keep the place tidy, there is a small plastic mount which you can use to mount the PowerCube onto the underside of a desk or perhaps onto a wall.

The downside of the mount is that you lose one whole power point (as the mount clips into a power point to hold), and also you need to be strategic about the larger plugs as the wall or desk may get in the way.

Available in four colours at Officeworks and Dick Smith you’ll find it for $29.95, or for $39.95 you can drop one power point and instead have two USB outlets for charging your devices.  I think that one’s the winner, these days the more USB ports offering power the better I say!
