CarPlay making ground in Australian vehicles

We’ve argued for some time that car manufacturers need to stop mucking around with building and designing in-car entertainment systems and leave that to the professionals – Google and Apple.  It seems, we’re getting there.  Slowly.

I’ve been a massive fan of CarPlay since it was first available in Australia via the Pioneer after-market head-unit.

When Android Auto came along it was clear that there would be an in-dash solution for everyone – Android and Apple users.

We even awarded Pioneer’s head-unit with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as our EFTM Best for In-Car entertainment systems.

So, with little or no Android Auto in cars yet here in Australia, which cars can you buy that have Apple CarPlay?

Here’s the complete list of cars in Australia featuring CarPlay – today, not coming – available today.

  • Audi
    • A4
  • Ferrari

We’re just a week or so away from CES, and we expect a lot more CarPlay and Android Auto announcements there, if only they could rush them into vehicles, and not have to go through a whole product life-cycle before deployment.

Oh well, at least it will be in my Ferrari (I Wish!)
