Good news for those people who use low-cost prepaid mobile services like Woolworths, Aldi or Kogan Mobile with confirmation all are switching to 4G for customers at no extra cost.
The switch has started for the companies using the Telstra network – Aldi and Woolworths, while Kogan has confirmed they will upgrade by mid-year with their operation working off the Vodafone network.
Of course Amaysim, Australia’s largest low-cost carrier switched on 4G some time ago on the Optus network, so it’s not the first time we’ve seen this move.
4G offers increased speeds for data use on the mobile network and while Telstra has a super fast “4GX” network for its customers, you’ll only get “basic” 4G on the Woolworths and Aldi networks – but that’s fine, still great speeds.
Kogan likewise will switch to Vodafone’s 4G with customers not needing to do anything other to ensure they have a 4G compatible phone.
If you have an older or basic feature phone you’ll still see “3G” as your network, but if you’ve got a 4G phone you’ll start to see those two characters appear soon.
