Microsoft announces the next generation Surface Pro tablet

At an event in Shanghai tonight Microsoft have revealed their latest device to carry the Surface name, the new Surface Pro.  Bigger battery, new pen, more power.

The thinner, lighter and faster concept is nothing new in tech, and Microsoft are learning from the best here with the next gen Surface Tablet – which they are also calling “The most versatile laptop”.

Claiming a 13.5 hour battery life this is an all-day workhorse by any measure, and with Intel Core i7 processor power it’s also going to get the job done.

The Surface Pen has had an update too – now with 4096 levels of pressure, enhancing one of the key selling features of the Surface Pro.

It is of course Dial compatible and packs what Microsoft describe as a “PixelSense” display – we’ll judge all these things for ourselves in the months ahead.

Australian pricing:

  • 128 GB / Intel Core m3 / 4GB RAM – $1,119.00
  • 128 GB / Intel Core i5 / 4GB RAM – $1,499.00
  • 256 GB / Intel Core i5 / 8GB RAM – $1,999.00
  • 256 GB / Intel Core i7 / 8GB RAM – $2,499.00
  • 512 GB / Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM – $3,299.00
  • 1 TB / Intel Core i7 / 16GB RAM – $3,999.00
