When you need to signal a radical change you change your logo. That’s the situation today for Foxtel who have relaunched their brand for the first time in a long time, and rebranded, renamed and relaunched their internet streaming TV service.
Foxtel Play has been an affordable and almost universally accessible service, allowing Australian’s to stream Foxtel channels on some smart TV devices, games consoles, smartphones, tablets and computers. But it was lacking in a few areas, some of which have been addressed in today’s revamp.
From tomorrow the service will be known as Foxtel Now, and as we’ve reported earlier the key additions to the service are High Definition streaming and Chromecast access.
Foxtel CEO Peter Tonagh said, “Foxtel Now is here and we’re thrilled to share it with customers hungry for the best choice in live sport, new movies, TV and complete seasons.
“Over the past few months we’ve introduced some fantastic new changes to our subscription streaming service including lowering the entry point to $10 per month and launching on Telstra TV. As part of the evolution of our streaming service, we felt the time was perfect to relaunch the service as Foxtel Now.
“Foxtel Now represents our most flexible and affordable entertainment service and brings with it HD streaming, a great new look and feel and the freedom to jump in and out based on your viewing preferences.”
It appears the prices have remained the same, though as we’ve reported earlier there have been some changes to the channel lineup.
You can get access for as little as $10 a month, while access to Sport will set you back $39 per month ($10 starter pack + $29 sport pack).
And for those Game of Thrones Fans, you can get it all in HD for $15 a month, no contract.
The new app will launch tomorrow, available on PC & Mac via Google Chrome browser, Telstra TV, iOS and Android devices while a range of other devices will update like PlayStation and Xbox and Smart TVs will update over the coming months to include HD – until then the Foxtel Play SD quality app will continue to work.
