In a sign of our reliance on the mobile phone for everything, the discrete music player is dead. Apple today removing the iPod Shuffle and iPod Nano from their product lineup for good.
A spokesperson for Apple said “Today, we are simplifying our iPod lineup with two models of iPod Touch now with double the capacity”
The iPod touch now starts at $299 in 32GB capacity and $449 for 128GB
With that “simplification” comes a cull, just two capacity’s, though there are six colours, but no more Nano or Shuffle.
The Shuffle was a great simple, clip on iPod for your music on the go, but in 2017 when there are 30,000,000 songs available at the touch of a button via Apple Music there’s really no compelling reason to use a Shuffle.
Lovers of the Shuffle are best served heading to local retails to see if they can buy the last of the stock, otherwise, it will all be gone very soon.
