Samsung adds ANZ to Samsung Pay

ANZ made such a fuss of launching on Apple Pay – the first (and only) Big Aussie bank to do so, then available on Android Pay shortly after – so it’s strange that ANZ cards have not worked on Samsung Pay, until now.

Using a compatible Samsung Device, you can now tap and go your way to groceries, petrol or whatever you like with your ANZ card.

The key advantage of Samsung Pay for the core Samsung users is compatibility with the Gear S3 smartwatch and use overseas on Magnetic Stripe readers.

Richard Fink, Vice President, IT & Mobile Division at Samsung Electronics Australia, said: “ANZ and Samsung share goals of developing incredible experiences for our customers through collaboration and innovation with a mutual effort to advance digital payments for the benefit of Australians.”

“We believe the convenience, security and choice that Samsung Pay offers is helping to transform the way Australians undertake everyday tasks when transacting.”

ANZ’s Managing Director of Product, Bob Belan said: “We are pleased to be delivering another innovative mobile wallet solution specifically for Samsung devices – something that ANZ customers have told us is relevant and important to them.”

“Samsung has strong device market share in Australia and many of our customers love its open approach to technology, so it made sense for us to work with them in bringing this convenient and secure mobile payments solution to our customers.”

Samsung now has over 40 bank brands on it’s platform, and the key for them is they also have Westpac – so now they truely have one up on Apple.
