Gumtree Cars launches as car-buying portal with 170,000 cars

Gumtree has long been the source of a large number of listings for cars for sale across Australia, but this week they launched a new-look site dedicated to car buyers and sellers.

Gumtree Cars is a dedicated car selling platform, with a different look to standard Gumtree listings and a specific car buying search platform.

Martin Herbst from Gumtree Australia says Cars are one of their biggest categories “Gumtree Cars is part of Gumtree’s most significant rebranding step this year, as the platform celebrates a decade of being Australia’s local marketplace.”

“We have already seen year-on-year growth in replies per listing and are looking to extend our cars offering past the one million UVs we measured on the site last year,” said Herbst.

“This is an exciting time for Gumtree as we continue to build awareness around the premium products available on our site, particularly within the automotive category. We see this as an opportunity to build the customer experience in the quality of our services.”

Gumtree car parts listings attract around 1.1 million visitors a month, 15% of the total Gumtree traffic which shows in the listing stats too:

  • 490k listings in Cars + Vehicles (including parts)
  • 240k listings for Parts + Accessories
  • 170k listings for new + used cars
  • 120k privately listed new cars
  • Around 1m UVs per month to Cars + Vehicles category
  • 800k UV to Cars, Vans + Utes
  • 7k new car listings each day

The new Gumtree Cars site features improved search functionality, a faster selling experience, the ability to send photos via messaging, more payment choices and 24/7 live chat for customer support.

You might find your next car at Gumtree Cars – never know!
