Samsung in the swim with Speedo – launching the Gear Sport & Gear Fit2 Pro

Samsung has partnered with global swim brand Speedo to launch a new swim tracking app called “Speedo On” which will be featured on two new devices announced here in Berlin.

The Gear Fit2 Pro and Gear Sport are both 5ATM certified for water resistance up to 50 meters and are designed to be the perfect swimming companion.

Smart sensors and the Speedo On app allow key swim metrics like Lap count, lap time and stroke time to be tracked with ease with swimming goals now counting toward your daily achievements.

The Gear Sport is a new generation of the Gear Smartwatches with a new fitness band, continuous heart rate monitoring and GPS tracking.

The Fit2 Pro is more of a high end fitness tracker with a screen on the wrist to show activity data including Swim data from the Speedo On app.

Speedo On also has a web-based platform to access and view your data, along with analysis of your swims and tracking progress against goals, and some tips and advice tailored to you.

Get ready for swimmers to talk SWOLF, a new Swim efficiency measure too – that score is obtained through time-trials using the Speedo On enabled devices.

The Gear Sport is almost an admission that the Gear S3 fell behind with Garmin and Apple making complete swimming smartwatches, Samsung had to react.

“Our Gear customers have been looking for more water-resistant products, and now with the Speedo partnership and the Gear Sport and Gear Fit2 Pro, we are delivering the best experience to meet their demands” said Kiseon Kim, Vice President of Wearable Product Strategy Team at Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.

Garry McGregor, Director, IT and Mobile, Samsung Electronics Australia says the device is perfectly timed for a growing fitness market “In 2017, fitness means more than just burning calories in the gym. Thanks to features like water and caffeine intake recording and auto sleep tracking, our new range of wearables are designed to help Australians bring balance to their lives.”

“Through exciting collaborations with iconic fitness brands like Speedo and Under Armour, the Gear Fit2 Pro and Gear Sport set a new benchmark for what Australians can expect from their wearables.”

“Perfect companions to the Note8 and the Galaxy S8, our new wearables blend cutting-edge technology with the timeless style and craftsmanship our customers expect from Samsung.”
