Choose your sound: AKG launches N5005 with interchangeable cable or Bluetooth option

When you first see the AKG N5005 you see a stunning set of in-ear headphones which take the studio quality sound AKG is renowned for and take it mobile, but when you take a look inside the box you realise what an amazing package you’re getting.

Let’s be clear, these are going to be $1500 earphones – available by mid-year here in Australia. So, you’re going to want quality right?

They offer Hi-Res Audio support and while we haven’t heard them AKG describes them as containing a “hybrid of One Dynamic and Quad BA Drivers create a perfectly balanced 5-way in-ear headphone with ultra-low distortion, accurate mids and crystal-clear highs.”

But that’s nothing. In the box are a set of four interchangeable filters to customise your sound – a true audiophile feature, but the real party trick is the connectivity.

A twisted cable is available in the box for a wired connection and the ultimate sound. However when you want to be out on the go, you can remove those cables and replace with a single wire offering Bluetooth connectivity.

“The AKG N5005 embodies AKG’s legendary studio sound and stunning design for today’s sophisticated listeners and audiophiles,” said Jessica Garvey, Vice President, Headphones and Wearables, Lifestyle Audio Division at HARMAN. “Excellence is in the details with this headphone, as it’s able to reproduce the same audio quality artists and sound engineers achieve in the recording studio, while conveniently connecting users to the music source of their choice.”

We’ve had a good look at them here at CES and can tell you they are stunning, from the packaging to the inclusions the whole thing looks like matching the price tag.

They’ll be available in selected stores and online in Australia for around $1,500.
