When it comes to front door locks most of us never gave the look or brand a second thought before the smart home race began. Today we have Kevo, Lockwood and Schlage among others battling for our business so they have to innovate.
Schlage have announced at CES a range of Google Assistant features that will be integrated into their smart deadbolt in the first quarter of this ear.
Your existing Schlage lock if you have one won’t work straight away, you’ll need a new Wi-Fi adaptor – pricing and availability for Australia are not yet known, but given the locks are distributed in Apple Stores, and one can assume Schlage are going to integrate these remote commands via Siri also.
So you can ask “Ok Google, is the door locked” if you’re worried you left without locking it.
Or “Ok Google, lock my door” – simple things, and the power of integration with lights and cameras could literally open amazing doors to a smart-home future.
“As the Internet of Things continues to innovate rapidly, brands must follow suit,” said Rob Martens, Futurist at Allegion, maker of Schlage Locks. “As IoT platforms emerge, Schlage continues to lead and support consumers’ choice.”
