More Talking In The Bathroom Is Coming

Today at CES in Las Vegas we came across Kohler, a brand very well known in the bathroom space. They had plenty of new baths, showers, toilets, mirrors and taps… however – this is a tech show…

Let’s start with the mirror. Imagine walking into your bathroom and you’re standing in front of the mirror, you’re about to brush your teeth, before you start you ask “Alexa, what is my schedule today?” and the mirror starts displaying and speaking your schedule to you. Alexa is a voice assistant by Amazon built into the mirror but also capable of controlling connected smart things. You notice you’re out of toothpaste so you tell Alexa to add it to your shopping list.

Following that you’ll be asking Alexa to start the shower to your desired temperature. Shower comes on and you get to work.

Or maybe you are having a bath so you ask Alexa to “fill the tub half-way at 50 degrees temperature”.

What about that other item in the bathroom… the toilet. The new model from Kohler is the most advanced toilet we’ve ever seen.

The Numi offers personalized settings that let users fine-tune every aspect of their experience to their exact preferences, from ambient coloured lighting to wireless Bluetooth music sync capability to the heated seat and foot warmer. Numi delivers hands-free control, personalized cleansing functionality, and exceptional water efficiency. All of these features can also be controlled using Alexa, or the Kohler app. You can… and you shouldn’t normally need this…but you can say “Alexa, flush the toilet”.

The kitchen sink is even impacted by Kohler. The tap or faucet is connected. A command to fill your glass with 200ml of water is done through voice, the same applies for temperature too. Very handy if your hands are full or if you need an exact amount of water for a recipe.

These products from Kohler in the Konnect range will be coming to Australia, no idea on pricing at this stage however if you’re about to build a new house then it should be worth checking out, the mirror itself is just a handy product on its own.

We were so impressed at how Kohler delivered real world examples for their integrations, they were able to demonstrate their technology, it made simple sense and frankly blew our minds. We’ve awarded Kohler Konnect the EFTM Best of CES award for IoT (Internet of Things).
