Qualcomm announce wire-free earbuds with increased battery life

The flavour of the month in personal audio is wirefree earbuds. Many wirefree earbuds are plagued with problems dropping connection with your smartphone. Not to mention the constant risk of just how easy it would be to lose one.

That aside, this is the direction that audio companies are heading in and now Qualcomm have joined the party with a product they claim solves two main problems of connectivity and battery life.

Qualcomm claims that the new built in chip produces a 65% reduction in power consumption that increases talk time by 60%. The increase in power should result in less interference.

Qualcomm have no intentions of releasing the earbuds themselves, instead they are in talks with major smartphone companies to include them with mobile phones, replacing the current cabled earbuds.
