Genius. Belkin launches Lighting to 3.5mm audio cable, no adaptor required

Ever since Apple’s “courageous” decision to remove the 3.5mm headphone jack from the iPhone people have loved to whinge and companies like Belkin have created solutions – today, probably their most genius solution hits Australia – a Lightning to 3.5mm audio cable.

Don’t get mad at Apple, loads of flagship phones don’t have a headphone jack including Huawei’s new P20 and the newly announced HTC U12+.  The digital output from lightning or USB-C should allow for better audio quality, plus the transition to Bluetooth is almost complete with almost all headphones now ranged in a Wireless version.

The 3.5mm Audio cable from Belkin has the standard “AUX” style plug on it, something you will find in many cars, as well as portable speakers.

Available in 3 foot and 6 foot long variants, you’ll find it online and soon at JB HiFi.  The 3 foot version will be $39.95 while the 6 foot comes in at $49.95.

There might be some of these on eBay from china, but what you should be looking for is MFI – or Made For iPhone certification – something Belkin has on this range.

“Bringing our audio legacy into the digital realm is a natural progression of Belkin’s mission to connect people to the experiences they love most,” said Melody Saffery, senior director of product development, Belkin. “Most of us are music lovers, and the ability to work on technology that can make other music lovers’ lives more fulfilling, better and more connected, inspires our teams to continue innovating.”
