At just $299 the new Kogan 32 inch TV is a cracking good price but the real value is in the 55 inch version at $559 for those looking for a smarter TV than the norm.
Although, in reality the norm today is Smart so it makes sense for Kogan’s basic and entry-level TVs to be smart.
Instead of offering TVs with an in-built DVD player or similar as a point of difference, Kogan’s new Smart range all feature a Smart operating system with direct access to Netflix, YouTube and more content from the remote.
These are not Android TV sets, that’s what you’ll get in the “Smarter” TVs from Kogan. Instead these have a linux operating system, but still feature the smarts most people want – Netflix and Catch Up TV.
From the 43 inch up they are also 4K (the 32 inch is just HD (not Full HD)) and their presale prices make them an ideal buy.
Built-in WiFi also means “Screencast” but don’t be confused with Chromecast – this is “Miracast” technology which while it’s excellent, is not as widely supported as Chromecast.
“High-quality Smart televisions don’t need to come with a high price tag,” said Sergiy Bobrovnychyy, Product Manager at Kogan.com.
“From today, we’re setting a new pricing benchmark with a new range of even better value Smart TVs. Kogan.com’s newest Smart TV range is packed with all the great features you would expect in its closest competitors.
“We are proud to be able to offer Australians even more affordable options on a range of products, from laptops to mobile phones to TVs. TVs are our flagship product range and we’re excited that the everyday Aussie will be able to enjoy the latest technology in their own homes, at more accessible price points.”
Price wise, you’ll find a slightly cheaper TV at JB but it’s not smart, and in the 55 inch size this is probably the best value TV you can buy. These are pre-order prices, so we’ll wait and see how or if they adjust after stock hits Australia. For the best value though, buy now.
