Ben Simmons the first NBA 2K Australian cover star

Fresh out of the race for Rookie of the Year, the talented Australian baller Ben Simmons is making his mark as the first Australian cover star of an NBA 2K game. The 21-year-old will brace the front of the Australian & New Zealand editions of the game as the second only region-based cover (2K18 had a Canadian version for DeMar DeRozan). Simmons has been in sporting headlines for months as an incredible young Australian doing absolutely exceptional work over in the US.

Ben is quoted on this achievement as saying; “It’s a huge honour to be recognised on the first-ever Australian cover for NBA 2K and represent the 76ers. The Aussie fans are super passionate about basketball and specifically NBA 2K, so it’s very cool to be an ambassador for both”

Known through his Instagram page @bensimmons for being an avid gamer – we can only imagine the pride that will validate his incredible efforts as he picks up his copy of the game.

The cover features Ben surrounded by symbols like the Australian flag, a boxing kangaroo and phrases of Ben’s choosing; “Triple Double”, “Young Prince”, “#1 Pick”, “Next”, “Family”, “Loyalty” and “Unstoppable”.

All too often in the media we’re reminded of sporting stars that act up or otherwise astray and make a fool of themselves. As an Australian, gamer and (incredibly) amateur basketballer – I can personally look up to Ben Simmons, he’s serving as an unbelievable role model for younger Aussies.

NBA 2K19 will be available in Australia and New Zealand on Tuesday, September 11 this year and the case will work as such that the wide release cover athlete (Giannis Antetokounmpo) will be featured inlay.
