Melbourne City FC v Girona FC game in India to be streamed Live on Facebook

In what appears to be a first for the Melbourne City Football Club – if not any A-League club, tonight their fans will have access to watch their game live on Facebook.

The live stream will allow fans to comment, react and engage with the match despite it being held in India.

Melbourne are taking on LaLiga’s Girona FC in the first international club football tournament to be held in India.

It’s not the first game of the tournament with their first being a 6-0 victory over the host team Kerala Blasters, but with Girona being such a huge name in football there will be a lot of interest back home here in Australia in this important pre-season match.

“Pre-season tournaments are an important part of our sporting preparation, but we are very aware when we travel that fans want to see the players in action” said City’s Chief Executive Officer, Scott Munn.

“Facebook Live is the perfect channel to give global access and allows fans to engage with comments and conversation throughout the game.

“This is the third time we have played a CFG sister team and we’re delighted that fans all over the world will be able to watch it.”

The live stream will commence just before kick-off at 11.30pm Melbourne time tonight on the Melbourne City FC Facebook channel. The match will also be broadcast on Fox Sports channel 507 from 11.25pm.
