Samsung ups their Soundbar game with an all new N950 with 7.1.4 sound

The Samsung K950 was a cracking great soundbar. Dolby Atmos, wireless sub and rears, great simple design, WiFi, Bluetooth – it had it all.

This year Samsung have taken it a step further with all new internal hardware designed and engineered at the LA Samsung Audio labs to produce a deeper, louder and even more complete sound.

I had a listen to this in a demonstration today – as you’d expect – it sounds amazing. And it should. The K950 was an award winner for us, amazing sound, so to take that a step up with long excursion drivers, wide range drivers and over 500W total power – it’s pretty bloody good.

The design is the same at a glance, though up close you’ll see the control buttons are now on top in the centre, and the screen is now on front to the far right side.

Otherwise, it could be mistaken for the K950.

This is the first Samsung soundbar to be certified to carry Harman/Kardon branding – the high end audio brand now part of the Samsung family.

With side firing speakers at the front, as well as upward firing speakers front and back – this is an all round surround system, certified for Dolby Atmos AND DTS:X so whatever you’re watching your covered.

Hass Mahdi, Head of Audio Visual, Samsung Electronics Australia says, “Australians are increasingly looking to soundbars to complete their home entertainment set-up and we are seeing greater demand for products that deliver a rich and immersive audio to support the TV viewing experience.

“The N950 and N850 are defining products for Samsung and a testament to our deep commitment to deliver products that break new ground for our offering and give Australians an incredible experience,”

It had wanna be good, at $1999.  There’s a smaller sibling, which is essentially the same front speaker without the rears in the system, the N850, which will retail at $1499.

Both go on sale in mid-August.
