I was reluctant to talk about or write about this phone when it was announced, because I wondered if it would even be released in Australia – but it is. It’s Oppo’s new Find X – and it has the coolest camera you’ll see on a phone.
At $1,099 it has to be good, because that’s flagship pricing – and it is. Selling exclusively through JB HiFi from tomorrow (August 16) it’s going to sell like hot cakes!
Now, it doesn’t have wireless charging, no fingerprint scanner, or a headphone jack, so it’s not everyone’s cup of tea – but what it does have is a complete and utter front screen. No Notch, no Chin, No forehead. Just screen.
The edge around the screen would be probably 2mm all around – which means no camera lens pointing at you. So when you want to take a photo – what do you do? Easy – you open the camera, and the camera appears – like magic – up top of the camera.
It opens pretty fast, seems slow – very mechanical, but I’ve not noticed that it has me thinking “come on camera”!
But get this – it’s also got face unlock. And Oppo has some of the fastest fingerprint and face unlock I’ve seen – get this – the Find X is fast – like 1 second. I’ve tried timing it, it’s hard to get it timed it’s that fast.
I’ll give the phone a full review soon – but let me say this, it’s impressive. The colour is unique because of the way it shows on the edges. Every angle, every corner of the phone has a unique curved design, it really does stand out from the rest.
“We’re excited to announce the availability of the OPPO Find X in Australia. The device will be sure to challenge what Aussie consumers think is possible with a smartphone and shows what OPPO is capable of,” said Michael Tran, Managing Director at OPPO Australia.
“OPPO’s relentless efforts in creating smartphones that push the boundaries led to the creation of the Find Series. The Find X continues this trend and has delivered a completely new design to the Australian smartphone market that will resonate with Aussie consumers and challenge the status quo.”
There’s also a Lamborghini edition – pricing not known, and let me tell you – I want that phone!
