Historic Brock collection to go under the hammer.

This is surely one of the greatest Australian motoring auctions, the Peter Brock Collection is up for sale. The world’s largest Brock collection is now officially online via Lloyds Auctions and open for bids.

The legacy of Australia’s most iconic motoring identity lives on with more than 30 cars up for grabs. The three-week auction features cars such as the original Day-Glo ‘Big Banger’, a Group C Commodore that won the James Hardie 1000 in Bathurst, Sandown 500 and Surfers Paradise 300.

The remarkable sale will finish with an event held at 8pm Saturday 6th October near the Mount Panorama circuit in Bathurst, NSW at the Lloyds Classic Car facility.

HDT owner Peter Champion, the man behind overseeing the collection said, “I’ve raced the ‘Big Banger’ around the track several times, she still goes like a beauty and that’s what this entire collection is about – enjoying the cars is what Peter would have wanted.”

Phil Brock, Peter’s brother, said “Peter would have loved to see all these cars together. It’s a snapshot of his entire motor racing history – starting with the Austin A30, which is the car Peter would have built if he knew how to build them in the day.”

As you’d expect there has been thousands of enquiries not just here but across the globe. Personally, I think it’s a tad sad such a collection could be broken up however Lloyds Classic Car Auctions Head Auctioneer, Bill Freeman has said, “This auction has created so much hype and excitement in the motoring community, with some even discussing partnerships and syndications to buy the entire collection and keep it together,”Bill said.

Fans can see both the 1984 HDT ‘Big Banger’ VK Commodore and 1982/1983 Bathurst-Winning HDT VH Commodore SS at the Sandown 500 this coming weekend.
