Kia Stinger Takes On Crime In The West.

The WA Police has gone down the path of their QLD counterparts and added the rapid Kia Stinger to their arsenal. 50 base model bi-turbo V6 models will be purchased, each capable of 272kW / 510Nm or if they turn for you 4.9 seconds to 100km/h.

The roll out will occur over the next 12-months and help fill the void left by the outgoing Commodore and Falcon V8’s.

WA Police and Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts said, “We continue to give the Western Australian Police Force the money they need to replace their fleet and to provide the best service they can for the community of Western Australia.”

“These cars are fit for purpose and they are all 5-star ANCAP rated which is important for our officer safety.”

The Stinger endured an extensive six-month assessment program meeting key criteria in performance, safety, availability and cost effectiveness. The cars will remain unmodified in the performance department except for a plug-and-play wiring loom for various operational equipment systems.

The news follows police in NSW recently announcing a fleet of Chrysler SRT8 and BMW 530d vehicles are being introduced.
