Samsung announces three stunning new monitors at CES

Office, Creative, Gaming – three very different use cases and for that reason three very different products have been announced by Samsung in the lead up to CES 2019 next week.

Aimed at overhauling your desk, these new monitors look the part but are aimed squarely at the different sectors with both their design and features.

The Space Monitor

This is like no other monitor I’ve seen, and the interesting part is – it’s not the “screen” thats innovative, it’s the stand.  Sure it’s a stunning 27 inch QHD or 32 inch 4K screen, but it sits on a fully integrated arm which doesn’t sit on the desk, it clamps to the desk.  This means it can be sat down on the desk, or pushed up essentially against the wall – vertical to the back of the desk.

All the cables are fully integrated so it’s a clean look and design.

CRG9 Gaming Monitor

This is insane – take two 27 inch 16:9 monitors and put them side by side.  With that, you have the CRG9 from Samsung.   49 inches corner to corner with a 4ms response rate aimed right at gamers.

Dual QHD resolution and HDR 10 with a peak brightness of 1000 nits – it’s bright.

And it’s also covered in Quantum Dots – so it’s one hell of a screen to view.  With gamers in mind, it’s also got a smaller stand size to allow you to maximise your gaming desktop space.

UR59C Curved

This is a world first from Samsung.  At 32 inches, it’s a 4K screen with a curve.  A curve works well at the desktop level, and a screen like this is aimed right at content creators.

A 2500 to 1 contrast ratio and a full 3840 x 2160 4K resolution offers a stunning screen at a 1500R curve.

It comes in Dark Blue Grey and has a slim design with a depth of just 6.7mm and a 3 sided bezel-less screen.

All three will be on show at CES, with Seog-gi Kim from Samsung saying “Samsung’s latest monitor lineup is incredibly versatile, and demonstrates our commitment to continued innovation and leadership in the category, All of these monitors are part of our larger strategy this year, to keep giving you choices so you can get what you want— beautiful, hardworking devices that inspire you to do more.”

Locally, Samsung Electronics Australia can confirm that the Space Monitor, CRG9 49-inch Gaming Monitor and the UR59C 32-inch Curved 4K UHD Monitor will be sold in Australia. Pricing and availability for these monitors will be announced closer to the local launch date.”
