Garmin the brand known for its fitness and smartwatches today announced a collaboration with Mercedes-Benz alongside the launch of the new CLA. The Garmin Vivoactive 3 GPS smartwatch will soon be able to pair with the Mercedes Me mobile app.
The reason being is that health and well-being data can be quite handy when you’re behind the wheel. The car itself can subsequently make changes to the driving experience. For example, if you’re feeling stressed it may take you via a less taxing route, play some calming music or even give you a massage via the seat.
“We are excited to bring our expertise in wearable technology into Mercedes-Benz vehicles via the ENERGIZING Package options,”said Matt Munn, Garmin automotive managing director. “Our popular vívoactive 3 GPS smartwatch can deliver some of the driver’s key health metrics, including wrist-based heart rate, to the Mercedes-Benz User Experience. Once the information is compiled, drivers will be presented with customized recommendations for enhancing their well-being directly from the system.”
Aside from the usefulness of all this data, the vívoactive 3 GPS smartwatch will have unique Mercedes-Benz branding. It will be available globally through Mercedes-Benz dealerships in March.
