Blind Spot Sensors to Improve Motorcycle Safety

CUB Elecparts are using CES to demonstrate how they are doing their part to improve motorcycle safety.

In addition to their tyre pressure measuring systems, CUB are introducing Blind Spot Monitoring for motorcycles.

Subtle sensors are positioned on the number plate hanger. When the sensors detect a vehicle in the rider’s blind spot the rear vision mirrors illuminate a warning that will be familiar to anyone who has already used a Blind Spot Warning system.

While I suggest that no electronic system replace the check over the shoulder, this is a system that I can see providing real safety improvements to many riders, especially those utilising the recent changes to lane filtering laws.

I see no downsides to this sort of tech. Bring it on.
