Netgear announces Nighthawk M2 mobile router through Telstra

When Telstra first launched “Gigabit” 4G they used the Netgear Nighthawk M1 mobile router as the benchmark for connectivity.

Today, that device gets a refresh with the Nighthawk M2 mobile router coming to market with double the speeds – peaking up to 2Gbps.

Devices like this are a stepping stone to 5G, particularly when the 5G coverage areas are long from being completed.

A colourful touchscreen and a new sleek premium finish make for a great mobile WiFi solution for people on the go, or for small home and office solutions where a fixed-line broadband might not be possible.

The device on its own supports connections from up to 20 devices meaning it’s great for holidays, work off-sites and a whole range of situations.

“We are proud to bring Australia’s fastest Mobile Broadband device, the NETGEAR Nighthawk M2, to Australia’s fastest mobile network”, said Andrew Stormont, Telstra Product Service and Design Executive. “NETGEAR has an outstanding record in producing top end devices that offer our customers excellent connectivity options both at home and on the road”.

“NETGEAR is pleased to again partner with Telstra in their deployment of the latest LTE wireless network capabilities, providing consumers with greater access to content with more seamless connectivity and faster downloads,” said David Henry, senior vice president of Connected Home Products for NETGEAR.

“We are on the path to enabling 5G connectivity, and this latest Nighthawk M2 mobile router offering is one step closer to the realisation of a more connected world.”

With a 16 hour battery life, plus Ethernet connectivity as an option, it’s the M1 made a whole lot better.

It’s available on a plan from Telstra, starting at $39 a month.
