Samsung expands SmartThings smart home roll out across Australia

Late last year Samsung launched their SmartThings connected home products in Australia – though only in a limited roll out across Victoria partnering with RACV. Today, that roll-out goes national.

The partnership with RACV initially focussed on consumers getting a complete installation service not just a set of boxes off the shelf and the RACV customer is ideally suited to the product as they are both keen and interested in these style of products, but weary of the difficulty involved in the setup process.

This expansion sees RACV as the online retailer shipping SmartThings starter packs nationally – minus the installation service.

Eric Chou from Samsung said “Samsung continues to invest in delivering technology to Australians that offers a simple and easy way to help manage their daily lives and households through offerings like SmartThings.

“The benefit of SmartThings and Samsung’s growing portfolio of connected products is that they can operate and integrate with a range of compatible products from other brands. Our goal is to help our customers utilise connected technology to empower them to do more, in addition to making things easy.

Nicole Brasz from RACV said: “After experiencing strong demand and positive feedback since the launch in December 2018, we are delighted to offer the Smart Home Starter Kit Australia-wide exclusively through RACV.

The national distribution marks another significant step toward creating a more seamless connected future in more homes through the SmartThings platform experience.

We are thrilled to provide more people with a unique product to help make their homes more efficient and their lives easier.”

The SmartThings Package is $299 +$13.50 if you want to take control of the installation your self, or if you live in Melbourne you can have RACV install it for $378.

Starter kit for SmarThings includes the Smart WiFi Hub, two multipurpose sensors and three motion sensors.
